The best AppLovin agency for an ecommerce brand is the one that can show you AppLovin-specific, dated results with the attribution basis stated, explain how it will test whether the channel is incremental, build creative for in-app placements instead of recycling Meta ads, and keep the account, pixel and media spend in your name. No neutral ranking exists, and many “best agency” lists are written by agencies that rank themselves. Decide first whether you need an agency at all, then run every candidate through the ten questions below.
The short version
| Decision | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Do you need an agency? | Not always. AppLovin says you can launch with as little as $10/day, and it publishes a one-hour launch guide. Management earns its fee when spend, creative volume and measurement stakes are high. |
| Proof | AppLovin-specific results with a brand type, a date window, the metric’s definition and a caveat. Agency-wide revenue totals are not AppLovin proof. |
| Measurement | A holdout or geo test designed before launch, compared against your breakeven ROAS. |
| Creative | Native 9:16 video and an Interactive Page per Creative Set, plus a real production cadence. |
| Ownership | The account, pixel, catalog and billing card stay yours. The agency gets invited access. |
| Money | Media, management fee and optional creative or technical work shown as separate lines, plus disclosure of any AppLovin referral commission. |
| Red flags | Guaranteed ROAS, unsourced CPA claims, “just reuse your Meta ads”, no holdout ever, an account in the agency’s name. |

Why “best AppLovin agency” lists are hard to use
If you search “best AppLovin agency”, you get listicles. Read them the way you would read any vendor-written comparison.
Patterns worth noticing in the current results (observed 2026-09-27):
- Self-ranking. Some lists are published by an agency that places itself first. That is marketing, not a review.
- App-install framing. Several lists come from the mobile-app user-acquisition world (MAX, game installs). An ecommerce brand buying web conversions has a different job: pixel, catalog, purchase value and blended MER.
- Stale picks. Picks dated “2025” predate the platform change that matters most. AppLovin opened AppLovin Ads to all advertisers on June 22, 2026, with no referral code or relationship required (AppLovin).
- Unsourced benchmarks. ROI or CPA figures with no account, date or measurement method behind them can’t be checked.
AppLovin also runs an agency program. It is a program for agencies, not a directory or a certification: it offers a 3% revenue share on qualifying client spend and dedicated agency support. So an agency calling itself an AppLovin partner tells you it is enrolled, not that AppLovin has vetted its results.
None of this makes a list useless. Use it to build a shortlist. Then make every name on it answer the same questions.
Step 1: Decide whether you need an AppLovin agency at all
Getting access is no longer the reason to hire someone. Since June 22, 2026, “Any business can sign up” (AppLovin). AppLovin’s consumer-brands page says you can launch with a budget as low as $10/day and describes going live in under an hour (AppLovin). Its launch guide is a one-hour tutorial covering account creation, the pixel, ad formats, Universal campaigns, ROAS vs CPP and reporting (AppLovin).
So the real question is who should operate the channel.
| Model | Who does the work | Fits when |
|---|---|---|
| Self-serve, in-house | Your team runs AppLovin Ads Manager | You’re testing small, someone on staff owns creative and reporting, and a slow learning curve won’t cost much |
| Advisory | Your team runs the account; an outside operator reviews goals, creative and measurement on a schedule | You have a capable buyer but no one who has run AppLovin at scale |
| Full management | The agency runs setup, bidding, creative for app inventory and measurement | Spend is meaningful, creative needs are constant, and a wrong read of platform ROAS would be expensive |
Self-serve is fine when your test budget is small, a missed month costs little, and you’re willing to learn the platform’s own reporting before trusting it. An agency does not make a weak product, a broken mobile checkout or an unknown margin work.
An agency starts to earn its fee when your team would be learning on live budget, when you need a steady supply of native creative, or when your CFO will ask whether any of it is incremental. The fit criteria in Who uses AppLovin (known economics, reliable tracking, mobile conversion quality, creative capacity) apply whether or not you hire help.
10 questions to ask an AppLovin agency before you hire one
Ask all ten in writing. The answers are easier to compare side by side, and you’ll see who dodges.
1. Can you show AppLovin-specific results, with dates and the attribution basis?
Why it matters: An agency’s lifetime revenue or total managed spend tells you it has run ads. It doesn’t tell you it has run AppLovin Ads for an ecommerce brand since the platform opened up.
A good answer includes: the brand type, the exact date window, spend, the metric and how it’s defined (for example, a new-customer cohort ROAS over a stated window), and a caveat that platform attribution can differ from blended or incrementality measurement. Ask whether each result is a validation or a scale case. For how to read these, see our AppLovin case studies.
A weak answer: a percentage with no date, no spend and no method, or results from Meta presented as proof of AppLovin skill.
2. How do you measure incrementality?
Why it matters: Platform ROAS is the engine’s own scorecard. AppLovin’s documentation has described click-based attribution, and its current support page describes a “Clicks and views” reporting mode alongside “Clicks” (Measurement and attribution): “Clicks” counts conversions after a click, and “Clicks and views” adds conversions within one day of viewing an ad. Either way, platform numbers are not proof that the channel added revenue.
A good answer includes: which reporting mode they read, how they compare it to blended MER, and a holdout or geo test designed before launch, with a pre-agreed rule for what result means scale, hold or cut. Our AppLovin attribution and incrementality guide covers the method.
A weak answer: “We track everything in the dashboard,” or a promise that a third-party tool alone settles it.
3. How much creative will you produce, and is it built for in-app placements?
Why it matters: AppLovin’s web ad specs call for full-screen vertical 9:16 video (up to 60 s; unskippable for 5 s in interstitial placements and up to 60 s in rewarded placements, per AppLovin) followed by an AppLovin Interactive Page, and AppLovin encourages a range of lengths and styles, with captions for sound-off (Ad specs and requirements). A Meta feed ad dropped into that environment often misses the format: the hook, pacing and end card work differently when someone is between game levels. More on the environment in how AppLovin Ads works.
A good answer includes: how many new concepts per month, who produces them, how the Interactive Page and end card are built, and how they decide what to kill or scale.
A weak answer: “Send us your best Meta ads and we’ll upload them.”
4. How do you set ROAS or CPP targets?
Why it matters: AppLovin sells on ROAS, cost per purchaser (CPP) and leads goals (AppLovin). A target copied from another channel, or picked because it sounds good, either chokes delivery or buys unprofitable customers.
A good answer includes: a target built from your contribution margin and allowable CAC. The simplest floor is breakeven ROAS, which is 1 divided by gross margin. At a 55% gross margin, breakeven is about 1.82x (illustrative).
A weak answer: “We’ll aim for 4x” before they’ve seen your margins.
5. Who owns the account, the pixel and the catalog?
Why it matters: If the account lives under the agency’s login and billing, your history, audiences and events can leave with them.
A good answer: the account is created under your business, billed to your card, and the agency is invited with the access level it needs. You keep admin rights. Pixel, events and catalog are documented so another team could take over.
A weak answer: “We run everything under our master account, it’s easier.”
6. How is your fee structured, and is it separate from media?
Why it matters: Media spend and agency fees are different money. Blending them hides what you’re paying for management.
A good answer: the proposal shows media, management and any optional creative or technical work as separate lines, and explains what drives the fee (spend, complexity, creative volume, tracking or catalog work, measurement needs).
A weak answer: one “all-in” number with no breakdown.
7. Do you earn a referral commission from AppLovin on my spend?
Why it matters: AppLovin’s partner program says partners “Earn 3% of ad spend for the first 12 months after brands sign up. Terms apply.” (AppLovin partner program). That’s a legitimate program. It also means an adviser can earn more as your spend rises, so you should know about it.
Separately, some agencies and creators advertise a “$5K ad credits after $5K spend” offer through referral links. Its terms were not found on an AppLovin page when we checked on 2026-09-27. Confirm any credit offer inside AppLovin before you count on it. Details in our guide to AppLovin referral codes and partner commissions.
A good answer: a plain yes or no, and if yes, the terms in writing.
A weak answer: discomfort with the question.
8. What minimum spend do you require, and why?
Why it matters: AppLovin’s platform floor ($10/day) and an agency’s minimum are different things. An agency’s minimum should reflect how much spend it needs to learn and to cover the work, and it should say so. For planning your own test budget, see what AppLovin Ads actually costs.
A good answer: a number, labeled as the agency’s qualification threshold, with the reasoning behind it.
A weak answer: a minimum presented as an AppLovin rule, or no minimum at all paired with a promise of fast results.
9. What happens in the first 30 days?
Why it matters: The first month decides whether you learn anything. Ask for the sequence in writing.
A good answer covers: account and billing checks, pixel and event validation (purchase value, item data, transaction IDs, click parameters, deduplication), catalog checks, the first Creative Sets, the starting goal and why, and when the incrementality read will be designed. It names what you’ll receive and when.
A weak answer: “We launch and optimize,” with no deliverables or dates.
10. How do you handle ad review, approval and policy issues?
Why it matters: Rejected creatives and disapproved catalog items shrink what the engine can show, and you often find out late.
A good answer: who checks open rejections and feed disapprovals, how often, and what they’ve done to get rejected accounts or ads approved.
A weak answer: “That’s between you and AppLovin.”
AppLovin agency red flags
Walk away, or at least slow down, if you hear any of these:
- Guaranteed ROAS. No one controls the auction, your product or your margins. A guarantee means the number is defined loosely or the risk is priced in somewhere else.
- CPA-drop claims with no source. Some agencies advertise CPAs 20–40% lower than Meta. Treat that as an unverified claim until you see which accounts, which dates and which measurement. Then test it on your own account.
- “Just reuse your Meta ads.” Existing ads are a fine starting input. As the whole creative plan, they skip the format AppLovin is built around.
- No holdout, ever. If an agency has never run an incrementality test on AppLovin, it can’t tell you whether the channel added revenue.
- The account is in the agency’s name. Your data and history should belong to you from day one.
- A referral link they won’t discuss. A commission isn’t a problem. Hiding it is.
- A minimum budget described as AppLovin’s rule. AppLovin’s published floor is $10/day. Anything above that is the agency’s choice, which is fine if it’s explained.
AppLovin marketing agency models and fee structures
Pricing varies by firm, and published price lists are rare, so compare structures rather than headline numbers. Common models in paid media generally:
| Fee model | How it works | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage of media spend | Fee rises with spend | Is there a floor or a cap? Does the fee rise as they scale you? |
| Flat monthly retainer | Fixed fee for a defined scope | What’s in scope, and what triggers a change? |
| Tiered by spend band | Flat fee that steps up at thresholds | Where are the thresholds? |
| Setup or onboarding project | One-time fee for account, pixel, catalog and first creative | What’s delivered, and by when? |
| Creative production | Per concept, per batch or bundled | How many concepts, and who owns the files? |
| Advisory | Sessions or reviews while your team operates the account | What cadence, and who is accountable for execution? |
| Performance-linked | Fee tied to an outcome metric | Which metric, measured how? Platform ROAS is easy to inflate with the wrong reporting mode. |
Add one line to any comparison: referral commission. If the agency also earns AppLovin’s partner commission on your spend, that’s part of what it earns from your account.
A scorecard you can copy
Score each candidate 0 (no answer), 1 (vague) or 2 (specific, in writing).
| # | Question | Agency A | Agency B | Agency C |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | AppLovin-specific, dated results with attribution basis | |||
| 2 | Incrementality method designed before launch | |||
| 3 | Native creative volume and cadence | |||
| 4 | Targets set from margin | |||
| 5 | Account, pixel and catalog in your name | |||
| 6 | Fees separated from media | |||
| 7 | Referral commission disclosed | |||
| 8 | Minimum spend explained | |||
| 9 | First-30-days deliverables and dates | |||
| 10 | Approval and policy process |
A candidate who scores 2 on questions 1, 2 and 5 but loses points on price is usually a safer bet than a cheap one who can’t answer them.
How WKND answers these questions
We’d rather you hold us to the same checklist. Here’s how WKND’s AppLovin Ads management for ecommerce brands answers each question, using only what we publish.
1. AppLovin-specific, dated results. Three anonymized accounts, each with a date window. ROAS figures are AppLovin Ads new-customer cohort metrics (NC D28 ROAS) from the stated reporting windows. Platform attribution can differ from blended or incrementality measurement, and results vary by account.
| Brand type | Window | What happened | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jewelry brand | March 4 to 21, 2026 | $268/day → $24.8K/day in 18 days; $127,000 total spend; 2.94x NC D28 ROAS; $1.11 CPC | Scale |
| Food & beverage CPG brand | January 24 to February 10, 2026 | $111/day → $12.9K/day in 18 days; $68,437.26 spend; 2.52x NC D28 ROAS; 4.77% CTR | Scale |
| Footwear brand | August 14 to 31, 2026 | $4,062.79 spend; 3.52x NC D28 ROAS; $1.75 CPC; 4.78% CTR | Validation, not a scale case |
Our AppLovin-specific track record: 5,000+ Creative Sets deployed, $5M+ Axon ad spend managed, 50+ Axon accounts. Our agency-wide figures ($1B+ revenue generated, 400+ brands scaled, $500M+ managed ad spend, operating since 2018) are across all channels. By our own Question 1, those agency-wide numbers are not AppLovin proof, so we list them separately.
2. Incrementality. Our published method: “no channel earns scaled budget on its own reporting, Axon included.” We take a 4-week baseline, run a geo holdout if AppLovin is at least 10% of spend (otherwise an on/off test over 2 weeks), run for 2–4 weeks while holding everything else still, then compare incremental ROAS to breakeven. At least 30% above breakeven means scale in steps and retest at 2x. Within 30% means hold, fix creative or feed, and retest. Below breakeven means cut or restructure. When platform ROAS looks great but blended MER hasn’t moved, the first thing we check is whether a holdout has ever been run.
3. Creative. “Each Creative Set needs at least one 9:16 video and one Interactive Page.” When Meta creative underperforms on AppLovin, we treat it as a format problem before a messaging problem: the hook, pacing and end card get rebuilt, and we check the end card first. From a client: “Those new end cards are sick!! CTR literally doubled.” (Jenny Trinh, Daniel Patrick)
4. Targets. We set the ROAS, CPP or CPL target from contribution margin and CAC. Breakeven ROAS is 1 divided by gross margin.
5. Ownership. New accounts use prepay. You add a backup card and 2FA, then invite WKND with the access level we need. The account stays yours.
6. Fees. “Your AppLovin Ads media budget funds campaign delivery. WKND’s management fee is separate.” Pricing depends on monthly spend, campaign complexity, creative volume, tracking or catalog work, and measurement needs. Every proposal separates media, management, and optional creative or technical work.
7. Referral commission. WKND does not use an AppLovin referral link, and our fee is the only thing we earn on your account.
8. Minimum spend. AppLovin lets advertisers start with as little as $10 per day. WKND is built for ecommerce brands prepared to invest at least $500 per day. That $500 figure is WKND’s qualification threshold, not an AppLovin platform minimum or a performance guarantee. The strongest fit is a brand with proven product-market fit, prior paid scale of $10k+/day with positive unit economics, strong creative volume, and clear attribution with realistic ROAS expectations. We’re not a fit for brands still validating product-market fit, with limited creative, small budgets needing immediate ROI, or looking for “set it and forget it”.
9. The first 30 days. What we commit to in writing: the Axon account review covers goal history, feed and event health, creative fatigue and incrementality readiness, with written findings inside five business days. Setup covers prepay billing and access, Shopify app or AppLovin Pixel via GTM with event validation, purchase history, catalog matching and the first Creative Sets. Timing depends on the account. One client put it this way: “Dude we were live in 5 days. That has to be a record lol” (Anand Dixit, Groomie). That’s one account, not a promise.
10. Approval and policy. Ad review, approval and policy recovery is its own service line. When there’s no dedicated platform support, we check open rejections and event health first. From a client: “Ok so we actually got approved?? After getting rejected twice on our own. I was not expecting that” (Amanda Zukerman, Dormify).
If you’d rather keep the account in-house, we also run advisory for in-house teams. “Those strategy sessions are the most valuable hour of my week” (Chad Smith, Juggernaut AI).

FAQ
What is the best AppLovin agency?
There isn’t a single best AppLovin agency for every brand. The best choice for an ecommerce brand can show AppLovin-specific results with dates and the attribution basis, designs an incrementality test before launch, produces native in-app creative, keeps the account in your name and separates its fee from media. Use the ten questions above to compare candidates.
Do I need an agency to run AppLovin ads?
No. Since June 22, 2026, any business can sign up for AppLovin Ads without a referral code, and AppLovin says you can launch with as little as $10/day. An agency makes sense when spend is meaningful, creative needs are constant, or you need a defensible incrementality read.
What does an AppLovin ads agency do?
It sets up the account, pixel and catalog, chooses goals and targets, produces creative for in-app placements, manages bidding and budgets, handles ad review issues and reports on performance. The better ones also test whether AppLovin is adding revenue, not just what the platform reports.
How much does an AppLovin marketing agency cost?
Fees vary and few agencies publish prices. Common structures are a percentage of spend, a flat retainer, spend tiers, setup projects, creative fees and advisory sessions. Ask for media, management and creative as separate lines, and ask whether the agency also earns an AppLovin referral commission.
Are “best AppLovin agencies” rankings reliable?
Treat them as a starting shortlist. Some are written by agencies that rank themselves first, some focus on mobile app installs rather than ecommerce, and some predate the June 2026 opening of AppLovin Ads. Check any benchmark for a source, a date and a method.
Do AppLovin agencies get paid by AppLovin?
Some may. AppLovin’s partner program says partners earn 3% of ad spend for the first 12 months after brands sign up, with terms applying. Ask any agency or adviser directly whether they earn it on your account.
What minimum budget do AppLovin agencies require?
It depends on the agency. AppLovin’s own floor is $10/day. An agency minimum is that agency’s qualification threshold and should come with a reason. WKND’s is $500 per day, which is our threshold, not an AppLovin rule.
