You no longer need an Axon referral code to advertise on AppLovin. Since June 22, 2026, AppLovin Ads has been open to any business, with no referral code and no existing AppLovin relationship required (AppLovin, Jun 22, 2026). What still decides whether you launch is account and ad approval, and that depends on your products, landing pages and creative, not on a code.
WKND does not use an AppLovin referral link. Every sign-up link in this article goes straight to AppLovin.
This article contains no referral links. The sign-up steps below send you to AppLovin’s own domain.

How AppLovin Ads access worked before June 22, 2026
There have been three access eras. Knowing which one a guide was written in tells you whether its advice still applies.
- Relationship only (before October 2025). Advertisers worked with the AppLovin team directly. There was no self-serve route.
- Referral only (October 2025 to June 2026). AppLovin launched its self-serve platform, then called Axon, on a referral basis. For about eight months you needed a referral code to get in (AppLovin CEO Adam Foroughi, Jun 22, 2026). This is when “axon referral code” became a search term.
- Open to all (June 22, 2026 onward). AppLovin removed the relationship and referral-code requirements. In the CEO’s words, “Any business can sign up.” The same announcement renamed the platform from Axon to AppLovin Ads and kept Axon as the name of the AI recommendation system.
If you want the full naming story, we explain why Axon and AppLovin Ads are two names for different things. For this page, the practical point is simpler: a guide that tells you to find a code was written for era two.
What about the referral-code workarounds?
On Sep 27, 2026, the top Google result for this search was a Reddit thread about a referral-code access workaround. We did not review its content and won’t describe it. You don’t need it. The gate it was built to get around no longer exists.
Why referral links are still everywhere
Referral links outlived the referral requirement for a plain commercial reason.
AppLovin runs a partner program for content creators, course builders and marketers. Its page says partners “Earn 3% of ad spend for the first 12 months after brands sign up. Terms apply.” (AppLovin partner page).
That is a normal affiliate arrangement. It is not a scam and it is not an accusation against anyone who uses one. It does explain why so many videos, landing pages and posts still lead with a sign-up link, including pages that rank for “applovin referral code” and “axon ads referral code”.
What it means for you as the advertiser:
- A referral link is optional. You can sign up directly on AppLovin’s domain.
- The person recommending the link may be paid on your spend. That’s worth knowing when you weigh their advice about how much to spend.
- Whether the link changes anything on your side is a terms question. AppLovin’s agency page describes the program as a 3% revenue share on qualifying client spend plus dedicated agency support. It says nothing about a referred advertiser paying more or less.
If a creator or agency you trust has a link and discloses it, using it is a reasonable choice. The point is to choose knowingly.
AppLovin ad credits: read the terms before you pick a link
The most common hook attached to referral links is a spend-match credit. In our Sep 27, 2026 review:
- DDU Media’s AppLovin page leads with “Spend $5,000. Get $5,000 in AppLovin ad credits” and says AppLovin terms apply.
- Pep Hufen / Smart Marketer video descriptions advertise “$5000 in Axon ad credits when you spend $5000 in 60 days”, through a referral link.
- A Social Savannah video description carries a similar referral credit offer.
We could not find the terms of this offer on an AppLovin page in this review. It is not on AppLovin’s partner page or its consumer-brands page. That leaves open questions only AppLovin can answer:
- Is the offer run by AppLovin, and is it current?
- Does it require a specific referral link, or can a direct sign-up qualify?
- What counts toward the spend requirement, and in what window?
- When do credits land, and do they expire?
AppLovin’s promotional terms answer most of these for its “Spend $5k, Get $5k Ad Credit” offer: it is for new web advertisers only, one per advertiser; the $5,000 must be spent within 60 days of registration; the credit is issued within 7 days after that; it has no cash value and can only be used on AppLovin; and AppLovin can change or end the offer at any time. The same page lists a $1k credit for customers of AppLovin marketing partners and a credit for Triple Whale customers who sign up through the Triple Whale integration.
Our advice: before you choose a sign-up link because of a credit, confirm the eligibility and terms inside AppLovin, in writing. Then decide whether the credit changes your plan at all.
Does a credit change the test plan?
Usually less than it seems. A $5,000 spend requirement is a spend commitment first. AppLovin says you can launch with a budget as low as $10/day (AppLovin consumer brands). At that floor, $5,000 takes far longer than 60 days, so a brand chasing a 60-day spend-match window is committing to a real budget, not a minimum one.
Plan the test budget from your margin and the learning you need, then treat any credit as a bonus. We cover how much AppLovin costs to test properly separately.
AppLovin sign up: how to join without an Axon referral code
AppLovin says setup can go live “in under an hour” (AppLovin-reported, consumer brands page). That’s the software. The approval and tracking work around it is where brands lose days. Here is the order we’d follow. For the campaign strategy that comes after, see our step-by-step guide to advertising on AppLovin.
- Start on AppLovin’s own domain. Google lists ads.applovin.com for Ads Manager searches. Type it or reach it from applovin.com (“Get started”) rather than through an unfamiliar link. AppLovin’s own tips if registration fails: use a computer rather than a phone, turn off ad blockers, and try another browser.
- Enter accurate business details. Use the legal business name, the domain you will advertise and the products you will actually sell. Approval reviews the legitimacy of the business and its products, so mismatches here create problems later.
- Set up billing and account security. WKND’s onboarding note: “New accounts use prepay. Add a backup card and 2FA, then invite WKND with the needed access level.” (Only the last step applies if you work with us.) Where each setting lives is in our AppLovin Ads Manager walkthrough.
- Install tracking before you build a campaign. Shopify stores install the AppLovin app from the Shopify App Store, connect the account, enable the theme extension and confirm the AppLovin App embed is on (AppLovin Shopify integration). Other sites use the AppLovin Pixel through Google Tag Manager. Details are in our AppLovin Shopify integration guide.
- Connect your catalog and purchase history. Shopify, a Pixel-built catalog or a daily CSV feed. Connecting Shopify or uploading order history in Events Manager supports Prospecting and Discovery audiences.
- Prepare a compliant Creative Set. “Each Creative Set needs at least one 9:16 video and one Interactive Page.” AppLovin’s web specs cap video at 60 seconds and 1 GB, with a 270×480 minimum (ad specs).
- Submit and watch review status. Ads can be in review, approved or rejected. Check open rejections before you blame the algorithm.
AppLovin account approval: what gets reviewed
AppLovin’s Platform Enforcement materials say every advertiser goes through an approval process meant to verify:
- legitimacy;
- compliance;
- audience authenticity;
- the legitimacy of the products or services being promoted.
AppLovin also says it uses automated tools and manual review on ad images, video, copy, landing pages, advertiser domains and restricted or prohibited content (Platform Enforcement). Accounts with repeated policy violations can be suspended or terminated.
Two layers, then. The account is reviewed, and then each ad and landing page is reviewed. Passing the first doesn’t guarantee the second.
What advertisers cannot promote freely
AppLovin’s Demand Partner Policies prohibit or restrict categories including illegal or dangerous products, deceptive claims, fraudulent traffic, certain sexual or adult content, illegal drugs, weapons, misleading business practices, certain financial products, certain health and wellness products, gambling, alcohol and other regulated categories (Policies for Demand Partners). Restricted categories may need AppLovin’s approval and jurisdiction-specific compliance.
If you sell supplements, anything health-adjacent, financial products or alcohol, don’t assume account creation means your products are approved. Read the current policy before you produce creative. Our due-diligence guide to AppLovin’s policies covers the full list and its sources.
AppLovin account approval time
We couldn’t find an official number. People search for “applovin account approval time”, and AppLovin’s support pages on creating an account and registration issues don’t answer it. Anyone quoting a fixed timeline should show you where it comes from. What you can control is showing up to review with nothing to fix.
AppLovin account rejected? The pre-submission checklist
AppLovin doesn’t publish a ranked list of rejection reasons that we could find. This checklist is built only from what its policies and review process say they check, plus the red flags from our legit/safe guide. Run it before you submit, and again after a rejection.
Business and products
- ☐ The business name, domain and products in the account match what the site actually sells.
- ☐ Your category isn’t prohibited. If it’s restricted, you know what approval it needs.
- ☐ No unresolved account, payment or compliance issues are already open.
Landing pages
- ☐ Pricing is visible. Recurring billing and cancellation terms aren’t hidden.
- ☐ Every claim on the page can be substantiated.
- ☐ Your ads point to the advertiser domain you entered on the account. AppLovin reviews advertiser domains as well as pages.
Ad copy and creative
- ☐ No deceptive or unsubstantiated claims, especially health, income or product-performance claims.
- ☐ Offers, testimonials and AI disclosures in the ad are accurate.
- ☐ Files meet the web specs: 9:16, up to 60 seconds, up to 1 GB, at least 270×480.
Feed and tracking
- ☐ Catalog items carry the required fields, with no disapproved items left unresolved.
- ☐ Item and variant IDs, pricing, availability, images and URLs match the site.
- ☐ Your cookie or privacy banner discloses the AppLovin Pixel where the law requires it.
If a rejection lands, check which layer failed: the account, a specific ad, a landing page or feed items. Fix that layer, then resubmit. If you believe an account was suspended in error, AppLovin’s ad content policies say to contact your account manager or AppLovin Support.
How WKND handles this
WKND runs AppLovin Ads for ecommerce brands end to end, and access is part of that job. Our service page describes the approval work this way: “We review landing pages, ad copy, and product feeds before submission, and handle recovery when an account or asset gets flagged.” That work sits under our ad review, approval and policy recovery service.
The proof we can share on this topic is a client’s own words. Amanda Zukerman of Dormify sent us this:
“Ok so we actually got approved?? After getting rejected twice on our own. I was not expecting that”
We won’t turn one message into a promise. Approval is AppLovin’s decision, and a product in a prohibited category can’t be fixed with better copy. What we can do is find the layer that failed and fix what’s fixable before it goes back in.
Speed matters after approval too. On setup and onboarding, Anand Dixit of Groomie told us: “Dude we were live in 5 days. That has to be a record lol”.
For context on scale: WKND has managed $5M+ in Axon ad spend across 50+ Axon accounts. We’re built for ecommerce brands with proven product-market fit that are prepared to invest at least $500 per day. That $500 figure is our qualification threshold, not an AppLovin platform minimum and not a performance guarantee.
If your account or ads were rejected, see AppLovin account rejected? Approval and policy recovery.
FAQ
Do I need a referral code for AppLovin Ads?
No. AppLovin opened AppLovin Ads to all advertisers on June 22, 2026. Any business can sign up without a referral code or an existing AppLovin relationship. Codes were required for about eight months, from October 2025 until that date.
How do I get an Axon referral code?
You don’t need one anymore. Axon was the platform’s name during the referral period. Since June 22, 2026 the platform is AppLovin Ads, and sign-up is open. Links still labeled “Axon referral code” are usually partner links, which pay the partner 3% of your ad spend for 12 months, terms apply.
Can I still get AppLovin ad credits?
Third parties including DDU Media, Smart Marketer and The Social Savannah advertise a “$5,000 credit after $5,000 spend” offer through their referral links. We found no terms for it on an AppLovin page on Sep 27, 2026. Confirm eligibility and terms inside AppLovin before choosing a sign-up link.
Is it safe to sign up through a referral link?
A referral link is a partner’s tracking link to AppLovin’s sign-up. The risk is not the link itself. It’s landing on a page that isn’t AppLovin’s. Check that the sign-up page is on AppLovin’s domain, and know that the referrer may earn a share of your spend.
How long does AppLovin account approval take?
AppLovin doesn’t publish an approval time in its support pages. Your best lever is to submit with the business details, landing pages, creative and feed already clean, so nothing sends it back.
Why was my AppLovin account rejected?
AppLovin reviews the legitimacy of your business and the products you promote, then reviews ads, landing pages and domains. Check those areas first: a prohibited or restricted product category, unsubstantiated claims, hidden pricing or recurring-billing terms, and the advertiser domain itself.
Is Axon Ads Manager the same as AppLovin Ads?
Yes, for sign-up purposes. The self-serve platform launched under the Axon name and was renamed AppLovin Ads on June 22, 2026. Axon is now the name of AppLovin’s AI recommendation system.
Get approved once, then get it right
You don’t need a code. You need an account AppLovin can approve, tracking it can learn from and creative built for full-screen app placements.
